Notes: On July 26th I was taking the time to tune all the guitars in my house after not touching any of them for several months. While tuning the last of them I started absently playing what came to mind and miraculously landed on a riff; what’s more, the riff in question belonged to a song I first wrote when I was 14 years old and just learning how to play guitar.

I stepped into Spare Bedroom Studios and recorded 85% of the song that day, with remaining tracking, mixing, and mastering completed on July 27th and August 4th.

The song is called “Alligators in Your Sewer” and was influenced by two sources: the urban legend of alligators living in the sewers of America’s picturesque suburban cities; and the boss battle in Resident Evil 2 where the player faces off against a giant mutant alligator in the sewer system beneath Racoon City.

The song is simple but smooth and I am most proud of the fact that, structurally, it remains unchanged from when I first wrote it nearly 20 years ago. What you hear is what I wrote as a 14-year-old kid in his bedroom in the house on Crestwood Street, trying to figure out the mysteries of playing guitar.
