about
Written and performed by Prichard Nixon.
Produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by Prichard Nixon
at Spare Bedroom Studios, Desert Hot Springs, California.
From the forthcoming extended play entitled "On Idiocy", tentatively scheduled for release winter 2023 via Copyright Records.
Notes: On Tuesday, January 2, 2018, I was tuning up my classical guitar and toying around with a song idea that my good friend Brittany had pitched to me about a week and a half before.
All I had to go on were two chords – C and G – and the lyrics, “Stop making stupid people famous / Because all they do is piss me off”.
While toying around with the first portion of the song the second portion simply willed itself into existence and the remainder of the song came together in two minutes flat. Production, engineering, mixing and mastering took place at my beloved Spare Bedroom Studios.
“Stop Making Stupid People Famous” was one of the last songs written during my tenure with Turnip and the Radishes, although it was never performed as a full band and therefore never felt like a true part of the T.a.t.R. catalog.
lyrics
I considered re-recording “Stupid People” in a more heavy / electric / punk rock styling; however, I ultimately decided not to for a very simple reason: I have always loved immediate, scrappy, acoustic punk rock singalongs.
Don't attempt to alter or improve something that is already working reasonably well (or, in layman's terms, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it.")
Thank you as always for tagging along on this artistic experiment of mine. Enjoy the music, spread the word and I will catch you all on the next one.
Sincerely,
Prichard Nixon
